Berlin is at its best in May: that’s when the renowned Berliner Theatertreffen showcases its selection of the ten most outstanding German-language productions of the past year, and the Stückemarkt features innovative theatre works from all over Europe.
As a special festival offer, the Theatertreffen’s International Forum invites young practitioners from various countries and contexts to be part of an intensive practical and theoretical exchange. This includes attending performances at the Theatertreffen and Stückemarkt, discussions with artists and experts, participation in workshops conducted by experienced theatre makers, excursions, as well as open spaces for presentations and lectures by the young artists themselves.
Every year, Pro Helvetia enables three theatre practitioners from Switzerland to take part at the International Forum. The call for applications is aimed at young theatre professionals not older than 35 who work on an ongoing basis either in the independent scene or at a theatre institution in Switzerland. Eligible are artists from the domains of stage direction, acting, scenography, dramaturgy, performance, text, music, video, drama education and choreography who have a track record in planning and implementing theatre projects of their own.
Since most of the events are in German, a good command of the German language is a further prerequisite.
