The SwissGames Delegation at Gamescom 2019

For the seventh year in succession, Pro Helvetia is organising a major Swiss presence at Gamescom in Cologne, Europe’s largest video game exhibition. Under the SwissGames – Exporting Fun & Innovation banner, a delegation of 19 studios from German- and French-speaking Switzerland will be providing a richly faceted overview of Swiss interactive media skills. Innovative design for each gaming platform, virtual and augmented reality (VR & AR) experiences and other cutting-edge technologies will be on display from 20 – 22 August.

Among the many interactive media applications represented by the Cologne delegation, Location Based Entertainment (LBE) promises gamers total immersion, particularly through virtual reality. Studios like Kynoa and Birdly will be offering visitors an opportunity to rediscover table football or to fly like a bird over extraordinary landscapes. With LiveStage, Imverse stunningly combines digital and reality for a stunning result. The studio has just signed an exclusive contract in the United States to develop the virtual escape room «MacGyver». Success stories of this kind are increasing, reflecting the growing dynamism of the sector in Switzerland.

Promoting Swiss creative talent at major international events such as Gamescom is one of the concrete measures part of Pro Helvetia’s «Culture and Business» focus.
