Maya Rochat turns the book of photography into a manifesto that breaks down generic boundaries. Crystal Clear is both a book of photography and painting, as well as a reproduction of the artist’s plastic work and a new space for experimentation. As such it questions our relationship with the proliferation of images in contemporary society and proposes a new version. A dense artist’s book in which one can walk around, lose oneself, grow tired and return to, indefinitely. Images are constantly alternating between different media, from the original image to its most complex evolutions. For example, analog images, digitised with water on the scanner’s surface. What emerges are auratic pixels, the fruits of coincidence and matter. Denis Pernet
