Visual Arts: Adapted funding measures

Lower visibility of their work, fewer opportunities for encounters and exchange, cancelled or postponed projects – visual arts practitioners are currently faced with huge challenges that call for new forms of support and promotion. To ensure the visibility of artistic and curatorial production in times of restricted mobility, to create possibilities for networking and to take account of the trend towards more critical reflexion, the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia is launching three calls for applications in the field of visual arts.
Calls for applications
To give Swiss artists and curators greater visibility and provide them with opportunities for encounters, exchange and research, the Swiss Arts Council is launching three calls for applications in the field of visual arts:
Studio visits
«Studio visits» is a call for applications aimed at artists who would like to invite specialists of their choice for an encounter and a professional dialogue about the artists’ work to fulfil their need for networking and for professional and critical feedback, to drive their artistic development and to receive new stimulus.
pop-up projects
«pop-up» is aimed at artists and curators who would like to realise a project in public space. Current artistic production is to be given temporary visibility by being presented in public outdoor or publically accessible indoor space.
Research grants for curatorial projects
Pro Helvetia supports curatorial research projects and critical reflexion of curatorial work to help curators put their time to productive use during the pandemic. This creates an important foundation for future artistic projects. The grant enables research that is carried out beyond the context of an institution and can be applied for too by artists who also work as curators.
