Each year the Theatertreffen at the Berliner Festspiele stages striking German-language theatre productions as well as pieces by young theatre makers from all over the world. In addition, the Stückemarkt presents new authors from around the globe who are making a name for themselves with dramatic texts and innovative performances.
Embedded in the festival, the International Forum invites young theatre practitioners from various nations and with a wide range of aesthetic, cultural and political backgrounds for some intensive days of theoretical and practical exchange. The programme includes attending performances at the Theatertreffen and Stückemarkt as well as workshops with experts from various disciplines, discussions on contemporary artistic developments and excursions through the multifaceted cultural landscape of Berlin.
Pro Helvetia enables two theatre practitioners whose working life is centred in Switzerland to take part at the International Forum. The call for applications is aimed at professional artists aged up to 35 who work on an ongoing basis in the independent scene or at a theatrical institution in Switzerland. Eligible are theatre practitioners from the domains of stage directing, choreography, playwriting and dramaturgy who have a track record in planning and implementing projects of their own. A good command of German and English is a further prerequisite.
