The online radio BOXOUT.FM based in New Delhi is putting a special focus on Swiss jazz with a podcast entitled Swiss Jazz Hour. Each of the six chapters is dedicated to a certain aspect of Swiss jazz: history of the genre, record labels, emerging jazz talents, jazz festivals, the role of traditional music in jazz, and the intercultural diversity of jazz in Switzerland. Co-initiator and manager of the Swiss Jazz Hour project is Swiss musician, radio maker and cultural practitioner Simon Petermann. Other participants include radio presenters from several Swiss Community radio stations (Radio RaBe, Radio 3Fach, Radio Gwendalyn and Radio Fribourg) who conducted interviews with Swiss jazz musicians.
The podcast aims to promote collaboration and cross-cultural ties between Swiss and Indian jazz practitioners and to open up channels for further creative cooperation and cultural dialogue between the two countries. The project is supported by Pro Helvetia New Delhi.
