The Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia has awarded a creation grant to eleven authors for a literary project.
By spring 2022, 74 projects had been submitted with an application for a literary creation grant, 30 of which from the German-speaking part of Switzerland (one of which in dialect), 29 from the Romandie (French, one of which spoken word), eight from Ticino (Italian), one from the Rhaeto-Romanic speaking part, four in the field of children’s and young adult literature (two German, one French, one Italian) and two in another language. At the recommendation of the eight-strong jury for literature that had assessed the applications in anonymised form, four projects in German, three in French, one in Italian, one in Rhaeto-Romanic and two in the field of children’s and young adult literature (one German and one French) were selected. The eleven projects comprise the genres of fiction and poetry.
Eligible for a literary creation grant are authors who have already had a literary work published by a recognised publishing house, who are actively involved in the Swiss literary scene, and who are either Swiss citizens or permanent residents of Switzerland. The grants are awarded twice a year, in June and in November.
