Financial support
During the Covid 19 pandemic, the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia adjusted its funding practices in selected areas to the prevailing circumstances in 2020 and 2021. As of 2022, many of the tested measures have been incorporated into the foundation’s regular funding portfolio.
Promotional Practise and Handling of Applications
Please note, that Pro Helvetia expects incoming applications to adhere to COVID19 related public health and safety measures. Decision making will consider the likelihood of the project being realised under the Covid-19 related measures in force in the country or region concerned. Adjusted Funding Measures and Calls for Applications
«To-gather» International Collaboration (2021)
In 2021, the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia launched a call to support the development and testing of new frameworks and methodologies for working internationally. The «To-gather» International Collaboration call supports 2–3-year collaborations between arts practitioners, cultural organisations and institutions in Switzerland and their counterparts in the regions of the Pro Helvetia liaison offices.
«Bridges to the Future» (2021)
In 2021, the «Bridges to the Future» package of measures has been introduced in various disciplines in response to the pandemic. Pro Helvetia has also launched several calls for applications offering artists and cultural practitioners the opportunity to continue developing their ideas and formats and to create a basis for the future. Special emphasis has been given to new models of dissemination, visibility and networking.
«Close Distance» (2020)
The 2020 corona crisis prompted the Arts Council to adapt its funding measures through new initiatives. Launched in April, «Close Distance», the transdisciplinary call for projects, sought new formats to enable the production and dissemination of artistic works despite restrictions on freedom of movement and assembly. The call supported nearly 60 projects, online or analogue, in the Visual Arts, Music, Performing Arts and Literature.
