Mentorship for translators’ first literary translation projects for a publishing house
For Whom
Publishing houses that would like to work with an emerging translator from Switzerland as part of a translation project
Selection Criteria
- The focus is on ensuring the quality of the translation in addition to the mentorship
- Individuals whose artistic training or first public presentation of their work took place less than five years ago are considered emerging artists
In addition to these specific criteria, the apply.
Financial Contribution
- CHF 40 per page of 1,800 characters each for the translator and mentor (for mentors without a connection to Switzerland, half of the standard national rate applies, depending on the mentor’s place of residence)
- If the mentor joins the project at a later point in time, a flat rate is paid
- Maximum grant of CHF 25,000
Content Of Application
- Signed license agreement
- Signed translator agreement with the translator and mentor (incl. provisions of the collaboration)
- Ten translated pages
- CV and letter of motivation from the translator and mentor
- Project description written by the publisher (reasoning, planning, participants, budget, etc.)

Mentor must be an established literary translator
