Switzerland’s Cultural Worlds

A substantial proportion of the artists working in Switzerland have foreign roots. In interaction and exchange with Swiss artists and cultural practitioners, they help shape the country’s cultural landscape, be it in music, the visual arts, literature, theatre, dance or popular culture.

Pro Helvetia’s swixx programme extended an invitation to discover the interplay of a wide variety of cultures in the context of contemporary art and culture in Switzerland.

The two-year swixx programme, from autumn 2004 until autumn 2006, was produced in close cooperation with partners.
