The Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia employs around 120 staff members in Switzerland and offices abroad who are dedicated to promoting contemporary Swiss arts and culture.

On behalf of the Confederation, Pro Helvetia provides support to ensure the quality and diversity of professional cultural production and its dissemination throughout the world. Your tasks

  • Developing the fundamentals of Pro Helvetia’s strategy and reporting to the Board of Trustees and the Confederation (Cultural Message).
  • Ensuring the professional and autonomous accomplishment of Pro Helvetia’s tasks.
  • Leading the content-related, organisational and staff-related development of the institution and ensuring the associated quality management.
  • Representing the Arts Council externally and heading the collaboration with the Federal Department of Home Affairs (FDHA) and the Federal Office of Culture (FOC) as well as with cantonal and municipal cultural funding bodies, cultural organisations and partners abroad.
  • Shaping a coherent and dynamic management culture together with the Executive Committee.

Your profile

For this multifunctional position, we are looking for a personality who meets partially or completely the following requirements:

  • University degree or equivalent education and multi-year, successful professional and management experience in the cultural sector.
  • A high degree of sensitivity regarding political processes, especially at national level, and versatility in handling demanding tasks and complex interplays of interests.
  • A vast network of connections in the Swiss cultural scene.
  • An analytical and innovative mindset and convincing written and oral communication skills.
  • Leadership skills with an inclusive and entrepreneurial approach, flexibility, willingness to assume responsibility and ability to work well under pressure.
  • Heightened awareness of Switzerland’s cultural multilingualism.
  • High level of competence in at least two Swiss national languages and in English.
