Game Developers Conference: Swiss Games Stride towards the Next Level
Every March, the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco opens its doors to game developers. At the world’s most important computer games fair, Pro Helvetia will be presenting one of the largest national delegations ever under the SwissGames label. Three studios have already received «Honorable Mentions» for the GDC Best In Play Award.
Its 28,000 visitors make the GDC the world’s largest and most influential trade fair for the professional gaming scene. From 18 to 22 March 2019, 19 up-and-coming Swiss indie game studios will have the opportunity to present their innovations to the international market.
The hallmarks of SwissGames are their narrative strength and visual implementation. One example is the puzzle adventure «Letters – a written adventure» developed by 5am Games: literary knowledge and creativity take users on a mysterious journey through time. The game has been awarded by an «Honorable Mention» for the GDC Best In Play Award— as have «Morphies Law» by Cosmoscope and «Mundaun» by Hidden Fields. Its innovative technology makes OZWE Games another strong Swiss participant at the GDC. Its VR multi-shooter «Anshar Online» stands a good chance of winning the IMGA Award (International Mobile Gaming Award).
As one of the large country delegations alongside France and Canada, SwissGames are well established at GDC Play. In addition to the GDC, SwissGames will be featuring at three other events: Game Connection America, where nine Swiss studios will have the opportunity to meet the most important players in the gaming industry and thus to find new customers. The selected studios will also be presenting their games at the European Game Showcase along with other European games. Another presentation platform is the B2C event Courage XL, where three Swiss studios have been invited to present their work.
