Pamela Rosenkranz to exhibit at the Swiss Pavilion at the 2015 Venice Art Biennale

Pamela Rosenkranz (b.1979) will be responsible for the exhibition at the Swiss Pavilion during next year’s Venice Art Biennale. The Biennale, a globally leading platform for contemporary art, will take place from 9 May to 22 November 2015.

Pamela Rosenkranz, born in the Canton of Uri, Switzerland, has been selected to create the exhibition at the Swiss Pavilion for the next Art Biennale in Venice. The choice was made by the biennials jury of the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia. The International Art Exhibition – la Biennale di Venezia is considered one of the most important worldwide platforms for contemporary art, with last year’s edition attracting around 400,000 visi-tors. The forthcoming 56th edition is due to open in May 2015.

Rosenkranz’ work employs the internet-driven thinking of her generation. With a wide scope of references, ranging from politics, history, philosophy and technology to pop-culture, she translates complex issues into accessible sets of symbols, using a variety of shiny surfaces. Rosenkranz uses all kind of different mixtures of monochrome skin-colours for finger painting on high-tech materials, colour schemes of global corporations, soft drinks and water bottles in her work. She confronts these products with their material reality and their syn-thetic appearance. With unexpected references to topics we encounter in the generated images and overabundant information of everyday life, Pamela Rosenkranz creates links that enable us to see things in an unexpectedly connected way while haunting and alienat-ing us at the same time.

«Salon Suisse» at Palazzo Trevisan for the fourth time

Complementing the exhibition at the national pavilion in the Giardini of Venice, the Swiss Arts Council is once again organising the «Salon Suisse» at the Palazzo Trevisan in the heart of Venice’s old town. Initiated by Pro Helvetia in 2012, the «Salon» makes use of the Art Biennale environment to enhance the Swiss art scene’s international network. With a series of challenging events, it brings together artists, specialists, students and other interested visitors from all over the world.
