Pro Helvetia offers residencies in Switzerland and in the regions of the liaison offices. Swiss cultural practitioners and cultural professionals from the regions of the liaison offices (Arab region, China, Russia, South America, South Asia, West Africa, Central Africa, East Africa and Southern Africa) may apply.

In response to the global Covid-19 pandemic Pro Helvetia developed a «Home not alone» residency format. If travel restrictions prevent the artist from taking up their selected residency and no other way of realization is possible, Pro Helvetia can offer financial support and provide a mentor from the destination country. Support is available for the duration of the residency period with the artist working from home.

Residencies for cultural practitioners from Switzerland

Cultural practitioners from Switzerland may apply for residencies in the countries listed below via myprohelvetia.ch. Residencies are limited to a maximum duration of three months. Applications may be submitted once a year (application deadline: 1 March). Applications must be submitted in English. A list of possible residency partners can be found on the websites of Pro Helvetia’s liaison offices (see below).

Pro Helvetia supports maximum three residencies per person. Cultural practitioners from Switzerland may apply for residencies in two different regions covered by Pro Helvetia’s liaison offices. Two separate, complete applications must be submitted. A maximum of one application per person will be approved within the framework of one call for applications.

Residencies serve to gain inspiration, to establish networks and to start thinking about projects. Pro Helvetia offers accommodation, travel costs, a daily allowance, professional mentoring, a workplace (on request) and a contribution to production/material costs (on request).
