In a first-time collaboration, Pro Helvetia and SHAPE+ strengthen the connection between the Swiss and European experimental and electronic music scenes. With this partnership, the Swiss festival Full Of Lava in Bern integrates the SHAPE+ platform.
The partnership aims to create new opportunities for Swiss musicians to perform in some of the most iconic European festivals, among others Unsound, Rewire and CTM, enhancing their international exposure and connecting them with new audiences.
SHAPE+ to integrate Swiss artists
The 2024/2025 artist list of SHAPE+ has begun its year of activities on 15 July. Bringing together 54 artists, it is the result of the platform’s annual open call in combination with curatorial propositions from each member festival.
Three artists from Switzerland have been selected:
Throughout the year, a series of activities are developed for these artists such as performances and residencies, as well as educational, networking and promotional programmes.
SHAPE+ to integrate a Swiss member festival: Full Of Lava (Dampfzentrale, Bern)
As a full SHAPE+ member, Full Of Lava gains access to all of the platform’s activities, including a network of influential bookers and general managers from internationally acclaimed festivals. This integration strengthens the cultural cooperation between the Swiss and European music scene.
The music festival at Dampfzentrale Bern (until 2022 named Saint Ghetto) showcases niche and experimental sub-genres of pop music. Held this year from 21 to 24 November, two concerts are presented in collaboration with SHAPE+: Otay:onii (CN/US/DE) and Antonina Nowacka (PL/IT).
SHAPE+
SHAPE+ is a European platform for innovative music and interdisciplinary art that supports emerging artists. It currently consists of a network of 18 European music festivals and venues.
Each year SHAPE+ offers career development support to 50+ artists through mobilities, performance and residency opportunities, education and promotion.
SHAPE+ is co-funded by the European Union and, as of July 2024, Pro Helvetia, enabling the participation in the platform of artists and a festival from Switzerland.
This latest collaboration with SHAPE+ is part of Pro Helvetia’s activities for the dissemination and promotion of the Swiss music scene outside Switzerland.
