Swiss Photomonth, an initiative from Spectrum – Photography in Switzerland, will take place in all of the country’s language regions from 30 August to 6 October 2024. This inaugural edition is supported by Pro Helvetia.
Swiss Photomonth aims to raise the profile of the Swiss photography scene. Firstly, inspired by the convergence of multiple photography events taking place throughout Switzerland at the end of the summer, the initiative will bring together the strengths of these players with the aim of increasing the visibility of all the venues and events across the country and boosting their attendance.
Secondly, Swiss Photomonth will draw on the creative and collaborative spirit of the national photography scene to encourage synergies and collaborations, both locally and across Switzerland. New photography events will also be introduced.
Over the course of almost six weeks, the public will be able to discover around 50 venues across Switzerland, both large and small, renowned and off the beaten path, that are active in the field of photography. Festivals, museums, art centres, galleries, collections, art schools and restoration workshops are all taking part, offering exhibitions, lectures and round tables, guided tours, book launches and performances. The Verzasca Foto Festival in Ticino, the Biennale Images Vevey in the canton of Vaud and Plat(t)form 2024 at the Fotomuseum Winterthur are just a few examples.
